In the Kitchen: Chili Dog Casserole

Before you gag, you should know that this recipe was actually really good! Not everyone likes hot dogs, but you could substitute sausages or turkey dogs too.

The basic recipe with reader tips can be found here.

I modified it by mixing ketchup and spicy brown mustard into the lower layer of chili and adding some cheese and chili in the tortillas before rolling them up. I would recommend using a good sized casserole dish and maybe getting a third can of chili. We also put some corn chips on the dish to give it some crunch.

I'm not a fan of beans, but we got the bean chili and I didn't really care that much. The whole meal cost about five dollars since we got everything but the cheese at Aldi and the cheese we got on sale at Hy-Vee.

If you've ever had Sonic's Frito Chili wrap, this is very similar, only with a hot dog in the center.

If you try this, comment and let me know how you liked it and what, if any, modifications you made.

Repo! FanFic

As previously discussed , I'm posting my Repo! fan fic links here, as originally posted on shilo_robber</lj> . I had alot of fun with this, but I'm posting for my own reasons, so read this only if you want to. If you're not a fan of Repo! The Genetic Opera, then you're going to find this boring. If you're not a fan of the Grilo pairing, then you're going to hate me for going there. Anyone is welcome to check it out. There is smut and SPOILERS so consider this your warning. Basic Disclaimer: Original Cs and concept belong to the creators (DB and TZ). No profit will ever be made from this story on my part.

Little Icon Game

1; Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2; Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3; Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4; This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

These icons chosen for me byjulsilicious .

 (1-3)

(4-5)

1.  "Phantom of the Opera" is one of my favorite stories of all time and I loved the movie. My only complaint about POTO in general is that it just doesn't end the way I want it to (she should of stayed with Erik...).

2.  Just from the trailers, clips, and music, I've developed a little bit of a fan-girl obsession with "Repo! The Genetic Opera." I really like the contrast between Graverobber's "evil" look and Shiloh's confused one.

3.  Garfield is classic. This icon is cute and cuddly, gives me warm fuzzies, and sort of kind of reminds me of my boyfriend (in a really strange way).

4. At the urging of some of my friends, I started reading the "Twilight" series. Halfway through the first book I got kind of geeked to see the movie so I grabbed up some icons. Now I'm about a quarter into the third book and my interest has dropped quite a bit. The books aren't thrilling me, I don't like most of the characters, and the movie has lost some of it's sparkle. I'll probably still see it though, just to satisfy my curiosity.

5. Another Repo! and another cool clash of characters and emotions. Not sure what really happens in the movie in relation to this icon, but it's kind of hot. And you can never have enough hot icons.

6.  I love pictures of tea and coffee. I like the cozy feeling they give and portray and I like the drinks in general. I don't drink either one on a regular basis, but I love the times I do because they're times when I can just kick back and relax.

I'll Paint You Mornings of Gold

I’m not sure how I did it but I managed to get my butt up at 5:00 this morning to go to the gym. Jon went too. We weren’t going to sign up at Mercy’s Health Center because it’s really expensive. But I found out that since we’re in the program, we would get two months for the price of one to start and the start up fee would be waived. So we went last night to sign up and this morning was our first workout. It was okay as far as workouts go. They have these crazy recumbent stair steppers that the trainer put us both on to start out. I really wanted to do the elliptical but apparently I’m not ready for that level of activity yet. Yeah right…give me a week and I’ll be there because I get bored way too easily. We both managed to get in 25 minutes on that and then we did our strength training. I’m planning on going tomorrow because my plan is to go 5-6 days a week. Jon’s is only four days a week so he’s skipping out on tomorrow and going Wednesday thru Saturday.

I’m also now on the plan my nutritionist set up for me, and I’ve started taking my complete drug cocktail. So far so good, though the third pill made me a little sick yesterday. I’m much better today. I went to the weight check last night and I lost 6 lbs in the last two weeks. Not too bad considering I was still eating horribly and my only exercise was the walking I was doing on my breaks. To be fair though, that walking was more than I’d done in a really long time.

This past weekend was good though we spent a lot of money since Jon got a financial aid windfall we weren’t expecting. We almost got Chancho a friend but decided against it. Jon went paintballing on Saturday and I just stayed home and read most of the day. That evening though I went to dinner with Linder and Kat to Hibachi Hut. Yeah…probably not going to be doing that again. It’s a Cajun place and I remembered having really good Cajun in Chicago. Forgetting that real Cajun gumbo has seafood, I ordered a cup of that and then about gagged on the smell alone. I took it home for Jon to have. I also ordered a Chicken Orleans dish which was supposed to be like a Cajun pasta. That was spicy and I wasn’t too hot on the taste. So that went home to Jon too. Needless to say, I was starving by midnight and had to have him bring me home some real food. Oh well…live and learn.

On Sunday, we went to the mall. Jon needed shoes and we managed to actually find two pairs of shoes at Finish Line. He wears a size 14 and they’re really hard to find. I figured we’d only be getting one pair for about $100. But Finish Line was having a sale and he got two pairs of Nikes for about $50.00. He hates wearing shoes but I told him it was a necessary evil when going to the gym. I got a pair of shoes too, though I went the Payless route.

We also got a game he wanted and picked up a couple fitness/food journals and a calorie counter. Then we went to Wal-Mart and did a bunch more shopping. We each got two workout outfits and a bunch of healthy type foods. We also picked up a mini-fridge to ensure that our good food doesn’t get eaten by drunk roommates and their obnoxious friends. It was a long day between shopping and getting laundry done but I felt pretty accomplished at the end of it.

We’re only two days into the week but so far so good. Work has been okay, a little busier than normal because I keep taking on projects to keep me busy. At some point, possibly tonight, I have to get up to Wal-Mart to pick up my prescription refill and get a present for Korin since his birthday party is this Friday. I also need a few more things, like some salad and dressing to eat at home. I might wait until tomorrow night though. I think tonight I really just want to veg out.

On that note, I’m signing off for now. Give me a few more days and maybe I’ll have some excitement to blog about. Then again, maybe not. Ciao!

Icon Battle

Inspired by  liannis

The rules of the game are very simple. You post an empty comment with an icon of your choosing. Anyone else can respond to your icon with an icon of their own. There are to be no words, let the icons speak forthemselves. You can also start your own thread if you don' t want to join in another one. Jump in as often as you want...

To make a blank comment:

Make an empty bold tag... < b > </ b > (without the spaces)

These are alot of fun and now that I have an insane amount of icons, I'm ready to do battle!

((Don't consider my post icon as a start off...I'll throw another one in the first comment to get things going!))

You're Going to Think I'm So Lame After This
Calm Buddha
addictsmistress

If you've read my MySpace blog you already know what the jist of this email is. If you haven't, I apologize now because this is kind of obnoxious. I'm actually just seeing where I can take this. It's going to sound like a mix between a get rich quick scheme and one of those spam things you see all the time, but I swear that there is a method to my madness. I'm putting it out there and if anyone wants to jump on with me, cool...if not, no worries. It's not really that big of a deal.

So as some of you know, I'm doing anything and everything I can to try to make some extra money. I'm working overtime, writing articles, and answering ads on Craigslist. This weekend I get to go help someone move...yay me! I'm not only paying bills and still trying to have a life, but I'm also working on getting my credit score up so I can buy a house in a year or so. And I don't even need to talk about plane tickets home and concert tickets and all the other "fun" stuff I still want to fit into life. So yeah, I'm doing what I can and saving and budgeting and all that fun stuff.

I even hit the low point and started checking out those "read emails and get paid sites" which actually seem to be easier than the "take surveys and get paid" sites because I can open a window and close it right down and still get credit. Of course most of them just aren't worth the time no matter which way you slice it. But that's actually what this email is about.

I got the link for a site that gives you ten dollars to sign up and then pays you 2 cents per email you read. They give you about 3 to 5 emails per day, which is really not going to pay any bills at 2 cents per email. But I figured what the heck, when it hit $25 I'd get it cashed out just to see if it worked. Needless to say I haven't yet hit $25. But then I found out that this site works like one of those retarded pyramid schemes and that you supposedly get paid for up to two tiers as well.

I am wondering if this really works. It's a longshot and I'm actually thinking it's not a real big moneymaker, but I'm curious. I thought I'd ask my friends out there in MySpace and LiveJournal if anyone would like to help me see if it works. Basically you'd say "Sure, I'll give a shot" and you'd click the link below that you would take to sign up. Then I would see if it works. Of course if the theory works, the extra money would be great to have for everyone involved. However, that's not all I'm trying to do this for. I'm thinking it would be an interesting article to write. If I found out if it actually works, or even if it didn't, I could do a write up on it. Those who wanted to help could give me their input and opinions and I could even quote you guys (if you didn't mind).

So that's it. I thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone wanted to try it. Don't think I'm a nerd or obnoxious for asking. I'm actually more interested in finding out for the article than I am to make money because I'm extremely skeptical about these things. It's an easy process (I think you have to have paypal though). But it's free to sign up. I haven't come across any area where I had to pay or even give them alot of personal information.

If anyone wants to help me out or just wants more info on it, let me know. I can give you the scoop on what I've done with it so far. I'll post the link at the bottom of this page if you want to check it out, but please don't feel like you have to. Also, if you do it and want to give me info later for the article, comment and let me know so I know to contact you when that time comes.

The link to hit if you want to check it out is:

Thanks all!
